What do you know about God?

God spoke further to Moses and said to him, “I am the Lord; and I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name, Lord, I did not make Myself known to them. (Exodus 6:2-3)

What do you know about God? Do you just see Him as Someone who is powerful and strong? Do you see Him as Someone who can just meet your needs? Many actually do know about God in that way, perhaps by mere intuition or hearsay. But often from afar. They suppose He can be relied upon to answer their prayers and make their lives easier. But God wants to make Himself known in a far deeper way. He is not just a cosmic store clerk waiting for you to order Him around. He is not just a doctor who you can come to see once in a while just because you feel a certain pain somewhere in your body, or soul. He’s a personal God who wants to have a personal relationship with you. He wants you to know Him as an ever-present Friend who wants to come alongside you in your daily struggles, engaging in meaningful conversations and interactions along the way. If you will open your heart, He will show you who He really is. Then you will really know Him in spirit and truth. Would you like to know God that way? Starting today, say this little prayer, “Lord, reveal more of yourself to me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
