How are you responding to God?

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh; for under compulsion he will let them go, and under compulsion he will drive them out of his land.” (Exodus 6:1)
How are you responding to God? Do you have to be compelled to obey God? Does God have to force you? Many times we are stubborn and unwilling to yield ourselves to the gentle prodding and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Sure, we pray. We even ask for evidences or signs. But after all the confirmations and affirmations, are we still reluctant to obey God? Are we like Pharaoh who has to be compelled by God to obey His will? Do we still bargain or delay? This is the reason why God wants to transform us from the inside out. He begins with our hearts, but He doesn’t stop there. He works in our minds and emotions as well, to make us willing and able to obey His will (Philippians 2:13). Ultimately, He wants us to obey Him out of love, not out of compulsion. He wants us to be willing, not compelled or forced to do His will. So starting today, make a mental note of how you are responding to God. If you’ve been delaying, bargaining, evading, etc., then it’s time to repent and just obey. Do it today.
