The Truth Remains

“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” John 1:12-13 NIV

People who continue to reject Christ in their lives do not fully understand what they are missing. They think it's just a matter of preference. Many people today believe that truth is relative, i.e. that truth is simply what is true only to you or me. In other words, there is no such thing as absolute or objective truth. Or to put it in another way, "If you believe that Jesus is the only way to God, then that is just your opinion. Don't impose that on me." Today tolerance is the highest virtue. Relative truth is the basis of that view. Everything is just relative, relative to either place or time, or relative to the person concerned. But by "tolerance" people actually mean something else. It does not simply mean respect, which is only right; it also means "Don't tell me that I'm wrong because there's no such thing as right or wrong, especially when it comes to God. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion about God. Everything is relative." I don't mind respecting people for their beliefs; they are entitled to that. I won't hate them or reject them for their beliefs. But to say that everything is relative is simply that, a relative opinion. I will still call a spade, a spade, for that is the truth. For example, I will still say that homosexuality is wrong because God says it's wrong. Truth is objective, or else it ceases to be the truth. It does not depend on any person's personal opinion. More importantly, truth is proven by those who actually believe. Those who believe in Jesus, for example, are truly born again. They are born of God, and experience all the benefits of becoming children of God, as God has promised in His word to those who believe. You may not believe this, but you're missing a lot. The truth still remains.
