Love the Word

59 I have considered my ways
and have turned my steps to your statutes.
60 I will hasten and not delay
    to obey your commands.
61 Though the wicked bind me with ropes,
I will not forget your law.

Psalm 119:59-61

New International Version 1984 (NIV1984)

The purpose of revelation is life transformation. Without it, meditation only leads to constipation, i.e. too much knowledge but without application. Not many today rely on the Bible as their source of wisdom. Fewer still are those who actually love the word of God in order to obey it. But then again you cannot expect the right fruit from the wrong tree. You can only love the word of the Lord if you have come to love the Lord Himself. That won't happen unless you are born again. That, too, won't happen unless you believe the Gospel. Therefore, someone must preach the Gospel to you first. This is the first revelation you will receive. How you respond to it will determine whether you will even reach this point that the psalmist speaks about, love for God's word. So if you hear the Gospel, respond to it with faith and obedience. Once that happens, God will give you a new desire for His word. In fact, as a result of being born again in the Spirit, you will fall in love with the word of the Lord, because you have come to love the Lord Himself. He initiates this love relationship; you only respond to Him in love. Once this happens, you will love the word of the Lord enough to want to obey it.
