Don't Just Hear, Do

“I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws.” Psalm 119:7 TNIV

Learning God's word is crucial to our spiritual formation. But it is even more crucial that we obey His word in our daily lives, for hearing without doing is like eating without digesting. Let us make it our habit to get into the word of God daily and meditate on it. If you have the faith, and you know how to do it, why not study (exegete) a passage or story more deeply (not just reading and meditating), so that you can understand what the Lord is saying to you. You can visit my site (sermon coach) for guidance on how to study God's word more deeply.  But, whether through your daily devotions or occasional deep study, what is important is heart obedience. Then you can praise God with an upright heart or with a heart of integrity, because you know you are not just a hearer of God's word but also a doer.
